diy leather clutch

I made this clutch with the leftover leather I had from this project. I'm really happy with the way it turned out and I plan on making more in different, bright colors. They're a great accessory for spring!
Supplies
  • Leather
  • Lining (I used silk, but lightweight cotton would also work)
  • 10" metal zipper
[Cut the leather into rectangles that measure 11" long and 8 1/2" wide]
[Using the above measurements, cut out two pieces in the lining fabric]
[Sew the zipper on to the top of the pieces]
[Sew the sides and the bottom together. Sew the lining together at the sides and bottom leaving a 5 inch opening]
[Turn clutch right side out]
[Sew the lining to the clutch. The 5" opening in the lining gives you access. Turn right side out when finished and sew up the opening at the bottom of the lining. Then tuck the lining inside the clutch]

  2. At the Salvation Army, they always have really ugly leather jackets. Now I know where to get some fabric for one of these. :)
